Overview

Aspect ratio is one of the most underexplored parameters in Midjourney for architectural visualization. The --ar flag fundamentally changes how Midjourney interprets your prompt — not just the crop, but the entire compositional logic. This allows you to control your composition without tweaking the prompt itself. When an image doesn’t turn out as intended, simply changing the aspect ratio often solves the issue far better than adding more text.

In this guide, we tested the same luxury residential exterior prompt across all 15 major aspect ratios, from extreme portrait (1:2) to extreme cinematic widescreen (21:9).
